Sound Barrier was founded in 1972 by George Mederos and until the late '90s, Sound Barrier manufactured quality affordable car audio equipment. For almost 30 years Sound Barrier grew to become one the most popular brands of Car Audio equipment in the Americas and the Caribbean. As the market shifted and the demand for secondary market car audio equipment faded, Sound Barrier forged a new path to success, developing a small line of entry-level professional audio equipment. There was nothing fancy about the new line, just a few good quality amps, and speaker cabinets.

We live and work in Miami, Florida, aka “The Magic City,” aka “The Gateway to The Americas,” aka “The City of Bass.” If music defines the culture, then Miami may be the most significant cultural melting pot in the world. Miami has a rich history of music and is home to various genres. As you walk through our city, you can't help feeling the chest-bumping bass of hip hop or the percussive beats of an EDM club. You might even hear the improvisation rhythms of Jazz, or the lively and seductive tropical rhythms of Salsa or Merengue. Each genre offers us a unique perspective on the various cultures of the beautiful people who call our city home. We go to sleep every night (or morning depending on how much fun we had) and wake up to design, test, and experiment with ideas for new products. The company kitchen is well equipped with Cuban coffee to make sure we have the stamina to do this because frankly, we can't function without it.
